Certified Public Manager Program
Consulting and Development

"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each another."

-John F. Kennedy

The majority of managers are promoted because they are good at what they do, but management is a completely different role, and often managers are thrown into that role with no preparation or training. Twenty-seven states and government entities have decided a Certified Public Manager Program is crucial to help equip their managers with the tools and practices to create and sustain high performing workplaces. Our consultants have worked with CPM programs from inception through implementation and project evaluation, and can provide guidance or assistance with whatever challenges you are facing.

What is a Certified Public Manager Program (CPM)?

A CPM is a 300-hour management development system that is accredited by the National Certified Public Manager® Consortium. It is designed for the development of public managers; state, local and federal. It has established requirements that must be met by government entities wishing to apply for accreditation and subsequently awarded the Certified Public Manager ® designation. The goal of CPM is to improve the quality and efficiency of management in government and to maintain and improve the effectiveness and professionalism of government managers.

Why Invest in a CPM Program?

  • To contribute to the advancement of the quality and integrity of the public management profession
  • To develop the belief that management in government is a profession established upon an underlying body of knowledge
  • To promote high professional, educational, and ethical standards in public management
  • To improve communication, cooperation, and coordination among public entities
  • To foster leadership through example and innovation
  • To improve the delivery of public services

What You Can Expect From a Certified Public Manager Program

  • The development of current and future government leaders
  • The creation of a pool of candidates for promotion
  • The development of a learning organization
  • The growth of a positive management culture
  • Measurable benefits from participants' learning projects
